2012 elections of the Armenian Community and Church Council of Great Britain
The ACCC elections are upon us once again. As required by the Constitution, the outgoing council has appointed an Election Committee (EC) to organise the 2012 Council election, in accordance with the rules and procedures detailed in the Constitution of the ACCC.
The EC held its first meeting on Wednesday, 30th November and uppermost in its immediate activities is the accurate collation and publication of the Electoral Register. To ensure completeness of the records, copies of the register will be displayed between 28.12.11 – 29.02.12 at the following locations:
1. St. Yeghiche Church
2. N. Gulbenkian Hall
3. Armenian House
4. Navasartian Centre
5. Hayashen - CAIA - (from Sat. 14th Jan)
6. Kevork Tahta Sunday School - (from Sat. 14th Jan)
7. Armenian Saturday Studies - (from Sat. 14th Jan)
8. Homenetmen-London Scouts - (from Sat. 14th Jan)
All members of the community are advised to check their details are correctly reflected on the register and to advise the EC of any changes immediately in order to secure their participation in the 2012 Council election.
Community members who have not paid their contributions for 2011 (or are not exempt from payment) but wish to participate in the election, are invited to make their payment by sending a cheque in the amount of £20 per person (payable to ACCC) to: ACCC, P.O. Box 46207, London W5 1XX. Contribution payments must be received by 31st January 2012.
Following the closure of the Electoral Register, all members of the community will be invited to submit candidates. Those wishing to stand as candidates for 2012 Council election must fulfil the conditions of clause 44 of the Constitution of the ACCC.
Extracts from the ACCC Constitution relating to the electoral rules and procedures will be made available on the Council’s website (www.accc.org.uk) from 4th January 2012. Alternatively, you may also obtain a copy from the EC at the above address.
As on the previous occasion, the 2012 election will be conducted by postal ballot with a closing date of Wednesday 4th July 2012. Further details regarding the ballot process, candidature forms and all other relevant information will be provided in due course.
This is your council, elected from among your peers to represent your views on how the affairs of the community should be managed. We encourage all members to actively participate in the election.
